Kassi Visage-Lowe was born Kassi Lee Schlangen in Spokane, Washington, January 9, 1959. She was happy, excited about life, a little girl with promise for the future. She was talented, loved to sing and draw and express herself. She found that school was easy for her. Social contacts were not. Kassi would speak up when challenged and fight you when wronged. She became combative and defensive-she made her opinion known. For that she was beaten time and time again. Kassi fought back, alienating herself from family…at least in her mind. Trusting no adult, she separated herself from friends and family and spent more time alone. She prayed to Jesus but there was no one else in her life. Love Me is the story of a girl with high hopes never realized. Kassi’s confused adulthood was the end result of childhood sexual, physical and mental abuse-leading to bipolar disorder and a life of drug use, prostitution and self-destruction. Her story is also a lesson about the indifference of our society. How does an intelligent, beautiful young woman come to this end? Product Description
As the stream of hi-tech drugs continues to multiply and a huge number of animals are used in medical experiments, debate continues about reliable methods for biomedical research and their adequacy in protecting human health from new products and procedures. In this book, a leading Italian medical researcher concludes, after years of himself practicing animal experimentation and vivisection, that the traditional reliance on these techniques is scientifically misplaced. Now available in a completely revised and updated English edition, Dr. Croce’s classic work constitutes a powerful argument. He documents with a wealth of fascinating detail precisely how the scientific anti-vivisection movement has constructed a rational case, as opposed to a sentimental or ethical argument. He highlights the increasing dangers to human health resulting from the animal experimenters’ assumption that the biological systems of humans and other species are sufficiently similar for valid biomedical comparison. And for the medical researcher, he provides an introduction to the range of alternative methods, including epidemiological research, computer simulation and in vitro techniques.

Britney Spears, Keith Urban, Lindsay Lohan, Mary-Kate Olsen, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers! The list just goes on and on! It is hard to keep up with it.
Why are so many celebrities going into alcohol and drug rehab around the same time? Is having all these celebrities check themselves into clinics supposed to make it look cool or something? It almost looks fishy. Could it be a kind of ploy designed to get other people to needlessly turn themsleves into rehabilitation treatment and get tortured?
Alcohol and drug rehabilitation, in reality, is not a picnic. Rehab clinics are a type of hospital. The recidivism rates are high. Heroin addicts get put on methadone, another dangerous drug. Why do these celebrities get so much publicity when they turn thenselves into these clinics? Nothing is cool about it. Does the news coverage serve a good purpose?
I am wondering, that’s all.

My son is 17 years old, and has a severe drug addiction problem. He’s on nearly every Hallucinogen, and smokes marijuana daily. He won’t go into a drug rehab program, we’ve tried before. Can I commit him without his consent? I’ve heard before that at 17 he needs to sign a consent form, which he won’t. But there must be a way to get him help, he’s not even 18 yet. We live in Vermont if that helps. Thank you for your answers, we greatly appreciate them.

I was wondering if anyone here was ever placed in a drug treatment clinic when they were a teenager. If so, do you think that the experience was helpful or harmful or neither? Did the experience change your life in any way that is tangible today? Be honest and try not to cuss. Have an awesome day!
