My sister is in detox right now for cocaine use. Next month she goes into a rehabilitation program that will last until December. What can I do to help her through this??! Is there anything that I can do that might help once she’s out?? I don’t want to do anything that might interfere with her recovery. Please give me some advice!

Ask if you can be involved in family therapy by attending family specific sessions. This will educate you regarding the care she is obtaining, enabling and how to avoid it, and how to continue your part once she is home. Addiction affects the entire family.
yeah just be there for her when she needs you but don’t be an enabler for her, thats where alot of families mess up they end up becoming enablers. alot of times not on purpose. but because they don’t exactly know what enableing really is. so you should also go to some alanon meetings before she gets out and better prepare your self in ways to know how to help her. good luck and best wishes.
Best thing to do because each person is very individual in their recovery is talk to the rehab centre that she will be in. Trust me, they are a HUGE help for the entire family.
